Lacy dress is completed

Now the Irish crochet collaboration project is completed! 

I've designed 55 crocheted squares with Irish Crochet and Romanian Cordwork, Caroline designed Knitted squares with beading inspired by Russian Folk Art.

The "Alternative Granny Squares were then handbeaded together into a dress in a modern shape as Granny Squares can often be thought of as "old fashioned".

Here my WIP is. I love it even it was not finished yet. 

On this stage I crocheted a bud and two leaf branches, I place all stuff face down into the square made and pined it down.

 Curly stalks are pined very often to make them smoothly. That's it I can say here about the process. Anyway, all details are in the pattern.

I found that lot of people were interested by my Irish crochet collaboration project. I've decided to make some patterns of these pieces.

Two classic Irish roses Patterns

I would like to share with you two traditional Irish rose patterns. Both of them could be brilliant for your Irish crochet project or as a small patch.

The measurements are: high 5 cm / 2 in, width 5 cm / 2 in.

I used very fine Cordonnet special 60 thread by DMC and crochet hooks 0.6mm and 0.75 mm.

Do you have a hobby like I do?

I fell in love in Irish crochet ten years ago. Is it complicated? Yes and no at the same time. All the process can be divided into steps like I did. I crocheted poppy flowers and buds, leaves, stalks, butterflies and shamrocks. Than I placed all stuff by the way I liked making a design and worked a background net between motifs.

I made notes on the go so it allows me to make a pattern of this lovely top thereafter. Now it's easy to follow the pattern as it includes 14 color easy readable charts and clear written descriptions for each motif:
3 kind of poppies,
3 sizes of leaves,
a shamrock,
a spike,
a butterfly,
a ring,
two layer's flower and
a background net template.

The assembly instructions and Front top sketch and Back top sketch added will help you to place all motifs as whole design.

Crochet flowers

Sometimes I would like to crochet small stuff like flowers. Looking to around me I just made what I've seen.

Here my new patterns I've made recently.
The first one is for traditional Irish rose Irish crochet lace pattern

The second flower is Crochet narcissus flower

One more flower is 3d flower

All these 3d flower patterns are easy for beginners. It includes charts and step-by-step written descriptions on how to crochet flowers.

Is it important to make a sketch for the dress? What do you think? I would say: yes if you care about the final result. So let's draw together.

Как вы думаете, важно ли сделать набросок будущего платья? Ответ однозначный: да, если Вас интересует конечный результат. Значит, будем рисовать.

If you are not skilled enogh in drawing, just place and spread crocheted motifs inside the outline. Did you crochet only a few motifs? That's OK. Take a photo of each kind of motif, copy it on a sheet of paper and print it out. I printed out 20 pieces of each flower, leaf and scroll.

Не умеете рисовать? Впрочем, я тоже не умею. Тогда возьмем элементы, связанные для платья (цветы, листья и другое) и разложим их на выкройке. У вас не подготовлено так много элементов? Не беда. Просто сфотографируйте каждый вид цветочка и листика и напечатайте на бумаге по 20 штук каждого вида как это сделала я:

The outline:

Вырежьте все напечатанные элементы и разложите их на контуре, создав свой неповторимый рисунок. Сначала я раскладывала крупные цветы, затем - листики вокруг них.  Маленькие цветы добавляйте последними - в оставшиеся свободными от крупных мотивов места. Решив, что у меня на платье будет изображена речка, я нарисовала желтыми и зелеными линиями два потока, которые решила в будущем заполнить узелками Клонес, выполненными на сеточке. Таким образом, область речки я не заполняла элементами.

Cut out all motifs that you printed and place them inside the drawn outline, making your own design. How I did it: firstly I placed big flowers, than settled leaves around it. Small flowers will fill spaces. I've decided that two "rivers/streams" will be pictured on the skirt so two areas were left for a Clones knot netting background. I will crochet these areas using background netting with viscose/silk thread. There will be not any motifs placed over these areas.

Запомним важное правило: не размещать центр крупного цветка в центре груди, в центре живота и симметрично с двух сторон над областью ягодиц.

Please remember: you need to avoid placing big flowers on boobs, in the middle of the belly and symmetrically on both sides above the buttock area.

Poppy Meadow crochet handbag PATTERN / Сумочка "Маковый луг", декорированная ирландским кружевом

It feels like I've spent a decade on this pattern... I created the bag itself last year. I really enjoyed making it. Firstly, I made the circular base of the handbag (thank God that this wasn't my first time making a bag - I had experience with how to do this properly). I made a small pocket inside - vital for holding small items. I also added two magnetic clasps instead of a zipper. I succeeded at making sure that the handles were securely fastened to the bag and that they did not stretch. 
Ох, как долго я шла к этому паттерну... Саму сумочку я создала в прошлом году. Работая над ней, я получала настоящее удовольствие. Сначала создала круглую основу сумочки, благо это была не первая моя сумочка и опыт уже был наработан. Сумочка получилась со внутренним карманом для мелочей, двумя магнитными застежками. Крепление ручек - надежное, ручки - не растягиваются.

 

Оставалось только достойно украсить мое изделие. Я решила, что оно будет декорировано ирландским кружевом.  Затем связались маки: открытые, полураскрытые и бутоны. Добавились листики и колосок. Оставалось соединить детали в общую композицию и выполнить сеточку между ними.
I was then left with the last task: decorating. After some thought, I decided to use the Irish crochet technique, since I love its delicacy so much. Then I crocheted various types of poppies: ones with open flowers, half-open flowers, and closed buds. Leaves and the spike came next. Lastly, I had to arrange all of these motifs into a design and crochet an Irish crochet-style net in the space around them.

Например, бутон мака состоит из трех частей: сам бутон, чашелистик и стебелек. Я показала это на картинке, создала схемы для всех трех частей и подробные словесные описания.
While I crocheted one motif after another, I made quick sketches of my work. This was what helped me later on, when I decided to create a pattern for this handbag. I showed my progress through images, created charts for all of the various parts of the handbag, and wrote detailed descriptions for the charts.

Пришло время соединять мотивы нерегулярной сеточкой. Мне стало известно, что для некоторых людей это самый трудный момент. Поэтому, создавая паттерн, я добавила ссылку, которая поможет вам с этим затруднением.

When it was time for joining the motifs with an irregular net, I discovered through crochet facebook group comments about my bag that the net itself was the most difficult part for some people to do. Because of this, I added a link to a video to my pattern to help those struggling with background netting.

Затем пришло время тестирования моего паттерна. Закончив тестирование, мы и мои тестеры убедились, что паттерн легко читается и легко понимается людьми даже с небольшим опытом вязания.

Lastly, I asked a few people to test out the pattern - this was to see if I was clear enough in my descriptions. They helped me realize that my pattern was reasonably understandable even for beginners in crochet. I might use the poppy theme in other future projects  - and will, of course, share them with you- as the theme seems to be easy to implement into creating all sorts of crafts e.g. dresses, tops, pillow cases, blankets...
